There&#8217;s a variety of trails (and signage) in Porto Covo and Cercal do Alentejo areas.[\/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text]<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we are aware, the Southwest of Portugal has become an increasingly popular destination for hikers from all corners of the world!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In line with this trend, the number of Walking and Cycling Trails has been growing, not only promoted by Rota Vicentina. There&#8217;s already some trail overlap in certain areas. Let&#8217;s clarify![\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading heading_semantic=&#8221;h3&#8243; text_size=&#8221;h3&#8243;]Caminhos de Santiago &#8211; Central Way via the Atlantic[\/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text]In recent months, a variation of the Caminho de Santiago, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caminhosdesantiagoalentejoribatejo.pt\/os-caminhos\/caminho-central-via-atlantico\/\">Central Way via Atlantic<\/a>, has been marked.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image media=&#8221;22885&#8243;][\/vc_single_image][vc_column_text]The Central Way via Atlantic partially coincides with the <a href=\"https:\/\/rotavicentina-blog.miewstudio.com\/en\/tag\/walking-trails\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Walking Trails<\/a> of Rota Vicentina:[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image media=&#8221;22880&#8243;][\/vc_single_image][vc_column_text]<a href=\"https:\/\/rotavicentina.com\/caminho-historico\/\"><strong>Historical Way<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/rotavicentina.com\/walking\/cercal-do-alentejo-porto-covo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cercal do Alentejo \u00bb Porto Covo<\/a> section, between Cercal do Alentejo and the Fonte do Mouro area.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rotavicentina.com\/trilho-dos-pescadores\/\"><strong>Fishermen&#8217;s Trail<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/rotavicentina.com\/walking\/s-torpes-porto-covo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S. Torpes \u00bb Porto Covo<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/rotavicentina.com\/walking\/porto-covo-vila-nova-de-milfontes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Porto Covo \u00bb Vila Nova de Milfontes<\/a> se, especifically between Pessegueiro Island and the S. Torpes beach.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rotavicentina.com\/walking\/2-praia-do-sissal\/\"><strong>Circular Route Sissal Beach<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nBetween Porto Covo and Sissal Beach.<\/p>\n<p>This Caminho de Santiago marking only exists in the south \u00bb north direction.[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading heading_semantic=&#8221;h4&#8243; text_size=&#8221;h4&#8243;]<strong>Signage of the Caminho de Santiago in Alentejo<\/strong>[\/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text]Along the way, you will find the symbol of the Caminho de Santiago: a stylized yellow scallop shell on a blue background.<\/p>\n<p>This signage does not indicate any direction. It becomes directional only when combined with a yellow arrow.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image media=&#8221;22858&#8243;][\/vc_single_image][vc_column_text]The yellow arrow indicates the direction and can be painted on rocks, trees, walls, posts, or even on the ground. In urban areas, it may also appear on specific tiles.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image media=&#8221;22861&#8243;][\/vc_single_image][vc_single_image media=&#8221;22855&#8243;][\/vc_single_image][vc_column_text]Often, Rota Vicentina&#8217;s trail pools are used for marking this other route. If you are following Rota Vicentina trail, always pay attention to Rota Vicentina&#8217;s signage to avoid taking the wrong turn at intersections.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image media=&#8221;22865&#8243; media_link=&#8221;url:https%3A%2F%2Frotavicentina.com%2Fsinaletica%2F|target:_blank&#8221;][\/vc_single_image][vc_custom_heading heading_semantic=&#8221;h3&#8243; text_size=&#8221;h3&#8243;]Short-distance hiking trails in Porto Covo[\/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text]There is also a new offering of walking trails promoted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freguesiadeportocovo.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Porto Covo Parish Council<\/a>: two Short-distance hiking trails &#8211; Planalto de Porto Covo (10.4 km) and Porto Covo from the Coast to Montado (22.4 km).[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image media=&#8221;22853&#8243;][\/vc_single_image][vc_column_text]The signage for these trails is red and yellow, just like the signage of the Circular Routes of Rota Vicentina, with the starting point (and information board) located at Porto Covo Parish Council.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image media=&#8221;22870&#8243;][\/vc_single_image][vc_column_text]Regardless of the trail you choose to follow, make sure to prepare your hike in advance.<\/p>\n<p>Confirm on the map which trail you will be taking, study the signage, understand the trail&#8217;s characteristics, and gather the necessary equipment (in the case of Rota Vicentina trails: <a href=\"https:\/\/rotavicentina.com\/produto\/mapa-preco-reduzido\/\"><strong>Map<\/strong><\/a> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/rotavicentina.com\/produto\/guia-de-campo\/\">Guide Book<\/a><\/strong>).
